5th & 6th Grade Community Homework Policy
Class work is assigned at the end of each subject’s lesson. Students have time to work on all of their assignments during the school day.
o If a student takes advantage of the work time at school, there should be very little work left over to take home! (Students in Band and Chorus will have less work time at school.)
Any work not finished during the day is homework.
Homework is due when collected at the beginning of the class.
We will accept late homework; however there will be a grade penalty.
**We will not be chasing down late homework – it is the student’s responsibility to remember what he/she still owes.
-5 points – Handed in later on due date.
-10 points – 1 day late
-20 points – 2 days late
-30 points – 3 days late
-40 points – 4 days late
Graded a 0 for 5 or more days late
Please note – there isn’t time in the mornings to finish up homework. Students are expected to have completed everything BEFORE coming to school.
All class work/homework is assigned to help students learn and practice the lessons taught. When homework isn’t completed, the students are then behind for the next day’s lesson.
Anyone caught working on homework during a lesson without permission will have their papers confiscated and will have to start over. (Example: Working on tonight’s Math while taking Science Notes during a lecture.) This includes late work!!
Students that are absent will be expected to turn in homework due the day they were absent and stay current with work when they come back. We will make arrangements for any missed work. Absent students are still responsible for any work that was missed.
Students who come in late must hand in all of their homework immediately upon arrival to the classroom or it will be considered late.
I have read and understood the homework policy for the 5th & 6th Grade Community.
