Your Right To Know--
Teacher Qualification

In accordance with Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, you have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of the teacher funded by a Title I program and with whom your child is enrolled.
Specifically, you have the right to request the following information: |
- Whether the teacher has met New York State qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas he/she teaches;

- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status under which state licensing criteria have been waived
|
- The teacher's college major, whether the teacher has advanced degrees, and, if so, the subject of those degrees; and
|
- If your child receives services from any instructional assistants or similar paraprofessionals, the qualifications of those individuals.

Requests to receive teacher qualification information may be directed to the Superintendent in written form. E-mail or phone calls are not accepted. |
