• Be especially careful to protect your child from the sun:
    • on cloudy or hazy days.  clouds do not block most UV rays & you  may not be aware of the potential for sunburn.
    • around surfaces that can reflect the sun's damaging rays onto the skin such as sand, water, cement, & snow.
    • in areas with a high altitude or tropical climate where the sun' UV rays are stronger.
Set a good example for your children by following these steps yourself.

    Be aware of:
    • Your child's medications. Certain presriptions and over-the-counter medications can cause the skinm to be more sensitive to the sun.
    • Changes in your child's skin.  Watch for any new raised grwoths, itchy patches, non-healing sores, or chages in moles and show them to your child's pediatrician.
