Common Core Geometry involves not only calculations, but also explanations as to why a student writes a certain equation or makes a certain statement. It is a proof based course with many written explanations, similar to writing a paper for ELA or a DBQ for History. The explanations need to be complete and thoughtful. Think of writing these explanations as being a lawyer. When you make a statement, it must be backed up with evidence. A good foundation of Algebra is also necessary to simplify the geometric expressions or solve the geometric equations created.
