• Living Environment

Course description:  This life science based course introduces the student to the essential characteristics of living organisms.  Course topics follow the NYS curriculum and include: cells, cellular processes, genetics, reproduction, ecology, and evolution of organisms.  Development of laboratory skills is a requirement of Regents courses.  Students complete labs throughout the year and fulfill the NYS laboratory mandate for Regents exams.  A Regents exam is given in this course.

Grading: Students' 10 week grades are calculated as decribed on Mrs. Streeter's home page.

Absences: Make-ups for quizzes and tests will be given to students legally absent from class.  The time in which make ups can be completed will be set according to the length of the absence and the amount of material missed which is being tested.

Students who miss class (due to lessons or field trips) or arrive late to school are responsible for getting any notes, homework, or other announcements and notifications.  Students who are illegally absents (leaving early for vacations) MUST turn in any due work and get any missed assignments before leaving.

New York State requires that students complete 1200 minutes of lab AND 4 MANDATORY LAB EXPERIMENTS THAT WILL BE USED ON THE REGENTS EXAM IN JUNE. Therefore, lab attendance is required.
