🛠️ BOCES Programs and Graduation

BOCES programs provide students with opportunities to gain practical skills in various trades and industries. While these programs are valuable for career preparation, students must ensure that they meet their home school district's graduation requirements, including completing necessary coursework and passing required exams.

For example, students enrolled in BOCES programs may need to:

  • Complete additional coursework at their home school to fulfill credit requirements.

  • Pass required Regents Examinations or approved alternatives.

  • Participate in internships or work-based learning experiences.

  • Complete capstone projects or community service hours.

It's essential for students and families to work closely with Mr. Gagan and BOCES coordinators to ensure that all graduation requirements are met.

CTE Programs at JL BOCES

Belleville Henderson Central School District (BHCS) has established specific criteria for students interested in participating in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs through BOCES. These requirements ensure that students are academically prepared and demonstrate responsible behavior, aligning with the district's commitment to student success.

✅ Eligibility Criteria for BOCES CTE Programs

To be considered for BOCES CTE programs, students must:

  1. Maintain Good Attendance: Consistent attendance is crucial for success in CTE programs. Students should adhere to the district's attendance policies, which emphasize the importance of regular school attendance for academic development.

  2. Achieve Passing Grades in 9th and 10th Grade Courses: Students must pass all required courses in 9th and 10th grades, including core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and social studies, to demonstrate readiness for the demands of CTE programs.

  3. Pass Required Regents Examinations: Successful completion of mandated Regents Examinations is necessary to meet state graduation requirements and to ensure students possess the foundational knowledge required for advanced technical education.

  4. Maintain a Positive Academic Standing: Students should demonstrate academic responsibility and strive for excellence in their coursework, reflecting the discipline and commitment needed for success in CTE programs.

  5. Have Fewer Than 10 Office Discipline Referrals (ODRs) in 10th Grade: Maintaining a positive behavior record is essential. Students should exhibit respectful and responsible behavior, with no more than 10 office discipline referrals during their 10th-grade year, to be eligible for CTE programs.

These criteria are designed to ensure that students are well-prepared and capable of succeeding in the rigorous and hands-on environment of BOCES CTE programs.
