Class of 2024 Leaders Announced

The Belleville Henderson Central School District is pleased and excited to announce the 2024 Class Leaders. A round of applause and congratulations to Ella Wainwright, Garrett Hyman, Megan Maurer, Morgan Hodge, and Raegan Riordan

Ella Wainwright

Ella Wainwright

Ella is the daughter of Denise ands North Brown of Belleville, NY and Robert Wainwright of Niskayuna, NY. Ms. Wainwright is a wonderful student. She is intelligent, passionate, dedicated and a leader in our school community. Ella has strong and passionate beliefs in community service/volunteering. It is important to her to help others especially when they are experiencing hard times and/or struggling with something. She recognizes that we all need help at some point. Ella has learned that at times the best way to help is to be there, to be present with someone.

Ella has earned numerous honors and awards throughout her high school career. Ella received the President’s Award, the Elmira Key Scholarship Award.  She is a Scholar Athlete. Ella was selected as a Section III All-Star in Soccer. She is the Treasurer for BHCS’s FFA and has earned her Empire Degree and Greenhand Degree. She is the Captain of the BHCS Varsity Soccer for the past two seasons.

Ella’s leadership style is “I won’t ask anyone to do something that I am not willing to do myself”. She leads from the front, not from the rear. Ella sees leadership as an opportunity for personal growth and as a way to enhance her skills. She also sees leadership as a means to help others grow and to achieve their potential. She takes this role and responsibility very seriously. During the numerous events Ella participates in, she strives to be the best version of herself.  

Ella will be attending SUNY Brockport this coming September, where she will major in Exercise Science. Ella’s career goal is to be an Athletic Trainer or Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Garrett Hyman

Garrett Hyman

Garrett is the son of Todd and Heather Hyman of Smithville, N.Y. Mr. Hyman is a wonderful student. Garrett is an outstanding young man. He is a mature, hardworking and dedicated student. Garrett is a leader here at Belleville Henderson. He is intelligent, motivated and a very level-headed student. Garrett is an advocate for all students. He is a great person to have in your corner.

Garrett has earned several honors and awards throughout his high school career. Garrett is an active young man. His commitment to academics and to his community is outstanding. Garrett has continued to challenge himself academically by taking a rigorous course load during his senior year. Garrett is enrolled in the Electrical Wiring program at Jefferson-Lewis BOCES. The Electric Wiring program is a very demanding program. It requires students to be self-motivated and dedicated to being successful in the program. Garrett is the Vice President of our FFA program. He earned his Empire Degree. He is a member of the National Honor Society and of the National Technical Honor Society. He played Varsity Soccer and Trap Shooting for all 4 years in high school. He has earned NOCTI Technical Endorsement, OSHA 10 and he is also a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwando.

Garrett will be joining the Navy after he graduates from High School. He will specialize in Avionics. Garrett’s career goal is to be a Navy Avionics Technician.

Megan Maurer

Megan Mauer

Megan is the daughter of Thomas M. Maurer of Baldwinsville, NY and Elizabeth Maurer of Syracuse, NY.  Ms. Maurer is an intelligent, kind, respectful, helpful and hard-working student. She is committed to being a positive role model in our school and community. Megan is a staunch advocate for her fellow students.

Megan’s selection of courses this year is very rigorous. She has taken eight college courses over the course of her senior year in high school. Megan is a 7 News Academic All-Star. She is a member of our Whiz Quiz  TV team. She is the President of the Foreign Language Club and the President of the Ski Club. Megan is a valuable member of BHCS’s Stage Crew. She is the backbone of our school’s musicals. Megan is a Henderson Harbor Triathlon Volunteer. Megan loves the outdoors, animals, cooking/baking and art. Family and friends are the most important part of Megan’s life.  

Megan is a quiet leader in our school. She has the courage of her convictions. In a small school district there is an expectation of conformity, which is not Megan. The BHCS community has a great deal of respect and admiration for Megan. She has found a way to be true to herself, to demonstrate to others that you can be yourself by elevating the qualities of your character through self-confidence rather than by putting others down.

Megan will be attending Clarkson University this coming fall. She will be majoring in Chemical Engineering. As a Chemical Engineer, Megan hopes to develop technologies and innovations that will help improve the quality of life for others.

Morgan Hodge

Morgan Hodge

Morgan is the daughter of Mark and Janelle Hodge of Henderson, N.Y. Ms. Hodge is a wonderfully amazing student. She is motivated, intelligent, community-minded, dedicated and a leader in our school and in the community at large.

Morgan has earned copious academic honors and awards throughout her high school career. Morgan was a finalist for the 2024 NYS FFA Employment Skills competition. She earned her FFA Empire Degree. The Jefferson County Youth Bureau selected Morgan as the 2024 Outstanding Youth Leadership Award winner. 

Morgan dedicates her time and talent to numerous organizations. She is the president of the Belleville Henderson FFA chapter. Morgan has played varsity soccer all four years in high school. She is also the captain of the team. She volunteers for such organizations as the PTO, Pink out for Cancer events, the Jr. FFA program, local Senior Citizens Homes, implemented the “Soup’er” Bowl of Caring and Teacher Appreciation days. Morgan is a tour guide for Clayton Island Tours.

Morgan is a strong role model for younger students, especially for young girls who are interested in becoming leaders in industries such as agriculture and medicine. Morgan sees volunteering as a means to “help me meet new people, connect and learn from them. I find passion in reaching out, helping others and doing good, just as those who have helped me". Morgan is someone who, through her actions, is making our community a better place to live and work in.

Morgan will be attending St. Lawrence University this coming September, where she will major in Biology. Morgan’s eventual career goal is to be a Dentist.

Raegan Riordan

Raegan Riordan

Raegan is the daughter of Paul and Marisa Riordan of Adams, N.Y. Ms. Riordan is an amazing student. Raegan is a strong and independent student. She has taken the challenges that life has thrown at her and used those challenges as a means to enhance her personal development and as motivation to build a strong and positive community. Reagan is a strong and prominent leader in our community.

Raegan has earned numerous honors and awards throughout her high school career. Raegan received the President’s Award, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Award and the Community Service Youth Leadership Award. She is the Captain of the BHCS Varsity Soccer and Basketball teams. Raegan is a multi-year Frontier League All Star for both soccer and basketball. Raegan has been the Class of 2024 President for all 4 years of high school.

Raegan dedicates her time and talent to numerous organizations. Raegan has volunteered her time helping out in our Elementary classes. During the summer and on many weekends throughout the school year, she officiates at several sports camps for soccer and basketball. Raegan volunteers at the Adams Free Library.

Raegan is a strong role model for younger students. There is a bright light that emanates from Raegan. The Belleville Henderson community has been enhanced by and is a better place because of Raegan.

Raegan will be attending the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) this coming September, where she will major in Biology. Raeagn’s career goal is to be a Pediatric Dentist.
