Art Department at Belleville Henderson

The Art Department at Belleville-Henderson is committed to inspiring each student through creativity, exploration, and self-expression. Our program spans grades K-12 and welcomes students of all interests and skill levels—whether your child is just beginning their artistic journey or already pursuing more advanced work.

What We Offer

  • Studio courses exploring drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital art and mixed media.

  • Hands-on learning of the elements and principles of design, as well as experimentation with different materials and techniques. (For example, our Fine Arts 7 course allows students to “continue exploring the elements and principles of art and design using traditional art materials.”)

  • Opportunities to display student artwork in school exhibitions and community events—celebrating our young artists and their achievements.

  • Emphasis on the state arts standards: our visual arts program aligns with the New York State Learning Standards for the Visual Arts, encouraging students to experiment, create, reflect and connect meaningfully.

  • A supportive environment for growth, collaboration, and the development of confidence—recognizing that engaging in the arts boosts motivation, attendance and overall student success.

Our Mission

We believe that art is not only a form of personal expression, but also a way to build community, enhance problem-solving skills, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the visual world. Our goal is to provide an inclusive and inspiring setting in which every student can explore creativity, develop individual voice and proudly showcase their work.

Getting Involved

Students who are interested in joining our art classes or participating in exhibitions should contact our Art Teacher. Families are encouraged to visit the showcase displays throughout the year and support our Panther artists.
