Graduation Requirements
Graduation Requirements
Our students must meet both credit and assessment requirements to earn a high school diploma under the New York State Education Department guidelines.
Credit Requirements: Students must complete at least 22 units of credit including 4 in English, 4 in Social Studies, 3 in Science, 3 in Mathematics, 1 in World Languages (for most students), 1 in the Arts, 2 in Physical Education, ½ in Health, and 3½ in electives.
Assessment Requirements: In addition to required credits, students must pass state‑approved assessments: one exam each in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, plus meet one additional approved pathway. Students pursuing the Advanced Regents Diploma must also pass extra math and science exams and fulfill one of three special sequences (World Languages, Arts, or CTE).
Please note: These are the state minimum requirements; our district may include additional courses, experiences or requirements. Students with IEPs or in special programs may follow alternative pathways—please see guidance for more details.
