Faced by a problem they can't solve or a challenge they can't meet, children's frequent response is to go negative- put themselves and their abilities down. Instead of focusing on the areas in whcih they are competent, they dwell on things they can't, to the detriment of their self-esteem. This program makes it celar that any kind of negative self-talk is self-defeating. It shows students the importance of positive thinking, concentrate on things you do well and are proud of. The 3rd graders will learn persistence, competence, responsibility and having the courage to do wth right thing which will build self-esteem.
